Reading Response to the Haltman Text and 3D Printing

The supplemental text I chose to make the comparison between “3-D Pring Your Way To Freedom and Prosperity.” The Haltman’s text cannot be searched like 3-d Print can be while doing research one may come across the Haltman’s text. The authors of the Haltman’s text taught me how to experience an object as space, right then and there. Not only how I would experience but how other people would experience the space of that object. The 3-D print is an online article that can be accessed by any and everyone and can be updated at any time. The Haltman text gave a lot more meaning to 3-D printing. It taught me what material culture is and how it can be expressed through certain objects like 3-d printing.

Throughout the website, they discuss whether or not 3-d printing would benefit the human race. Combing Haltman’s idea of Material culture and 3-d printing we can employ many ways to incorporate touch and serval other senses to our culture senses. This will thus, greatly impact those who are visually impaired. The 3-d structure is one of many great technological advancements that can help advance the experience of one who is impaired. And through 3-d printing, we can help retrieve old methods of teaching and learning.  Comparing the two text you cannot replace an object that already has a cultural meaning to it.

The most challenging part of this assignment was making the connections between the annotations I made for both the Haltman’s text and 3-d printing. Reading the Haltman text first really helped me make the connection between material culture and 3-d printing.
